Protect surfaces efficiently before painting
For professional painters
A high-quality outcome doesn’t just require skill – it also requires the right products for protecting surfaces from masking tape to plastic sheets and cardboard. We gathered some essential points to keep in mind before painting.
As a professional, you already know how time-consuming surface protection can be, but you also know how important it is to do it with great consideration. Paying close attention to detail makes cleanup much easier and will save you time at the end.
Choose protective materials based on your work type
If you are renovating and removing loose particles, protecting the floor is essential. The layer protecting the floor should be thick enough in case something drops. Cardboard is best for this purpose.
Protect the room well when sanding. Even if you use a sanding machine with a connected vacuum, dust will fly, so it is important to protect everything in the room. As drywall dust is hard to get rid of afterwards, seal the room by hanging a plastic sheet at the door frame and securing it with duct tape.
Using a paint sprayer requires more protection, but it also makes the painting faster. With any airless sprayer, a certain amount of overspray is expected, so extra protection is needed.
Choose protective materials that are easy and efficient to use
Use good quality tapes from established manufacturers, such as 3M or Tesa [replace with local partner, if necessary]. High-quality tapes designed for professional use stick instantly to most surfaces, stay in place and remove easily to create sharp paint lines. One-piece removal without residue makes cleanup easy and efficient.
High-quality products and time-saving options make the job easier without compromising the outcome. Big brands often have self-adhesive plastic sheets with tape included, which work well on standard indoor sites.
